Tulikas move to Chicago in 2009 has steered new landscapes in a fresh direction.
The artist shifts her focus to the architecturally magnificent high-raises in Chicago. There is an attempt to strike a balance between the furiously rising structures and the natural environment around it. The resulting paintings urge the viewer to re-examine the possibilities and the impact of the urban landscape.
The acrylics reduce the Chicagoan skyline to almost flat colors and precise lines that are architectural in nature. The interaction with nature is however almost accidental through the pouring and mixing of glossy enamel paint. This lends an insight into the artists dual nature- the obsession with detail and playfulness blending together.
